Me and My Cellphone

As time passes by technology is growing faster and faster. Now, instead of waiting an hour for dinner to cook, I can just put it in the microwave for 5 minutes and it will be done and taste the same. The most important kind of technology in my life is a cellphone. Everywhere I turn, I can see people with cellphones. Today, cell phones have become a necessity rather than a luxury. Cellphone is a gadget that everyone wants to have and enjoy. It became part of everyone in day to day life. Life became so easy, and we cannot imagine life without them. Cell phones have become a normal part of our everyday living. I have seen people as young as five years old own a cell phone. Nearly everyone has cell phones in this day and age. They have become a necessity for communication.

There are many advantages of having a cellphone in my life. First of all, if an emergency occurred and I needed to get a hold of someone or someone needed to get a hold of me, it is convenient to always have access to a phone. Another is having access to the web. Especially if I am going to be out of town and need to check my email or get on the internet, I will always have easy access. I can even watch movies in my cellphone just like I watch one in the computer. Through my cellphone, I can also listen to music and radio, take beautiful photographs of my loved one’s, send money through mobile banking. One of my favorite features in my cellphone is the reminders because it can be a substitute for a daily planner.
My mobile phone is the most important device for me. It helps me in not only staying connected but it has a huge number of other uses.

It allows me to remain in touch with whomever, while on-the-go. I got my first cell phone in my freshman year in high school: a “Nokia 3210 cellphone.” It is fully equipped to make phone calls and text messages (believe-it-or-not). That phone was a great first phone because I, like others I’m sure, didn’t appreciate the value of their first cell phone and allowed it to fall all over the place and after one year (when it was time for the upgrade) the phone still worked having been dropped more than a dozen times. My first cell phone was very good to me.
While others may have/currently have the use of internet on their phones – I’ve never had internet on mine. My first cell phone, as I said, allowed me to have phone conversations. Since those days, I’ve upgraded to having unlimited text-messaging, picture-messaging, a touch screen, and a 2-mega pixel camera with still photograph and video options along with standard limited-minute calling. Before, I was perfectly content in having a phone that merely “texted.” Once those “latest phones” became available – I wanted to have one. People like having the latest and greatest and will spend a great amount of money to ensure they stay on top of the latest trends, which in turn inspires companies to make sure they are coming out with the most consumable trends.

One thing that I like about cell phones is the ability to make several people aware of something, at the same time. If I wanted to invite my friends over to our aparment for a cookout, all I would have to do is draft a message saying, “Hey – you should come over to grill out at my place right now.” I can send that message to anyone I please and those that see it and would like take action, they can respond saying they’re coming, ask if they should bring anything, and so on. It eliminates the need for me to plan too far ahead so I can give everyone the opportunity without putting them on the spot with an invitation if they either don’t want to come or don’t want to disappoint me by not coming.

All-in-all, I believe that cell phones are a great technology for people to make use of. They give users the ability to contact anyone in their phonebook at a moments notice, and anywhere they or the other party might be. They allow us to keep in touch with many more people than before and allow us to be kept in touch with just the same. We are able to do anything from look up information on the internet to recording fond memories with a picture.

Using a cell phone is a lot more convenient than having to have fifty cents in your pocket at all times to stop and use a pay phone.

Most cell phones have calendars, note pads, and even access to the World Wide Web. People are using them for appointment reminders, keeping notes, reminders for birthdays and anything else they need to remember. You can use the internet access feature of a cell phone to access your email, look up phone numbers in search directories, and doing research. Some cell phones now come with Global Positioning Systems (GPS), to help people find their way to where they are going. A lot of cell phones have games on them and people like to play them while waiting in waiting rooms, or simply whenever they are bored.
